Sodium Metabisulphite -99% Cosmetic Grade
For external use only
Sodium metabisulphite is used as an antioxidant agent in many pharmaceutical formulations. It is extensively used as a food preservative and disinfectant. Sodium metabisulfite is an antioxidant-based preservative that is used in cosmetics and skincare products to prevent contamination by bacteria and mould and to extend the shelf-life of products.
It is a common additive used to preserve and stabilize wines, ciders, and occasionally beers. When added to wine or must, it forms sulphur dioxide gas (SO2). This prevents most wild microorganisms from growing and acts as a potent antioxidant, protecting both the colour and delicate flavours of wine. Sodium metabisulfite solutions are also used as sanitizing rinses for winemaking equipment.
Sodium Metabisulphite is one of the primary ingredients used in Campden tablets. It is also used to sanitize the equipment used for winemaking. This product is also used to eliminate both free chlorine and the more stable form, chloramine, from water solutions (e.g., drinking water from municipal sources)
